Infections often proceed without symptoms.

Every day, over 1 million people worldwide are infected with STIs.

Chlamydia are bacterial infections of the mucous membranes, caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. They primarily lead to inflammation of the urethra, genital tract, and rectum.

If symptoms appear, discharge from the urethra or vagina, as well as itching, burning, and pain during urination will occur after one to three weeks

If left untreated, chlamydia can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, inflammation of the prostate, testicles, and epididymis, as well as infertility. In women, inflammation can cause the inner lining of the fallopian tubes to scar, making egg transport impossible.

Syphilis is a bacterial infectious disease caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum. It typically progresses through several stages and, if left untreated, can affect various organ systems, including the skin, mucous membranes, lymph nodes, cardiovascular system, and nervous system.

HIV is a viral infection that attacks the body's immune system, specifically destroying CD4 cells (T-helper cells). If left untreated, the infection can progress to AIDS, the advanced stage of the disease, where the immune system is so weakened that life-threatening opportunistic infections and cancers can occur.

Gonorrhea is a bacterial infectious disease caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It primarily affects the mucous membranes of the urethra, cervix, rectum, and throat and, if left untreated, can lead to inflammation of the reproductive organs and infertility.

Hepatitis C is a viral infectious disease of the liver caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). It leads to inflammation of the liver tissue and, if left untreated, can become chronic, potentially leading to liver cirrhosis or liver cancer in the long term.

How to protect yourself effectively against STIs

  1. Communication: An open conversation about sexual health demonstrates responsibility. Talk about your last test, protective measures, and sexual health – this protects both partners and builds trust.
  2. Condoms & Female Condoms: They reliably protect against HIV and significantly reduce the risk of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis. However, they do not offer 100% protection, as some STIs like herpes or syphilis can also be transmitted through uncovered skin areas.
  3. Regular STI Tests: Many STIs are asymptomatic but are treatable, or fully curable, with a timely diagnosis. For those with multiple partners, testing every 3-6 months is recommended.

[Don't panic],we got you!

If your test is positive, we won't leave you alone. One of our doctors will contact you to discuss your treatment options. The earlier an infection is detected, the easier it is to treat. With our test, you'll receive your results just 24 hours after the lab receives your sample.
